Registration for this theme has now closed. The South West has a larger rural area and larger rural population than any other English region. This ‘rurality’ poses particular challenges - for employers, employees and people looking for work. The absence of a large local labour pool, from which skills can be ‘bought-in’, places a premium for employers on training their existing staff. In this Learning Theme we explored the following:
